Squash & Stretch

Documentation of Kinder/Garden examines surveillance and control through the assisted reproduction of fetal-shaped vegetables, while Owen Chapman’s (Opositive) Calling the Voice-O-Graph explores challenges to diffusion and cross-pollination faced by sample-based music. Web cameras controlled by donated computers captured timelapse movements of summer squash in Concordia’s rooftop garden located in downtown Montreal, and stop motion micrography was performed in researcher Tagny Duff’s Fluxmedia Lab. An abridged version of Opositive’s “Hear the Wind” supplies the groove.
